      THE WORLD OF SHAKESPEARE
                     Directed by Evanne Floyd
                              Ages 11-18
   $250 + $50 Pre-registration fee to reserve a spot.
Classes held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9-12
                         from June through early August.

This s
ummer workshop for grades 6-12 starts the first week  of July and culminates in a performance in early August. Each student will choose a  character from the works of Shakespeare to study throughout the summer. They  will learn about what life was like for Shakespeare when he grew up, and what
life was like for the many characters he penned. By learning historical skills like dancing, oration, heraldry, sewing, etiquette, weaving, woodworking, simple  chemistry, armoring and painting, students will gain insight into their way of  thinking. Students will interview local experts to learn more, and with the  help of local groups they would be able to live some of the same experiences as those in Shakespeare's plays. Weekend field trips will let students learn  fighting from real world knights and join in a tourney with other students.

Together with performance skills like improvisation, theatrical makeup,  costuming and stage combat they'll have a chance to show the world what they've
learned in a fully staged final performance for the world to see.
